Officers Boots with Hobnails

Besides the helmet, the tall, blackened leather boot is probably one of the most instantly recognizable items of the German military. Officers and certain senior NCO ranks were responsible for purchasing their own uniforms including footwear. The Officers and certain senior NCO’s could choose to purchase their footwear from the armed forces clothing depots or to privately purchase footwear of higher quality.

Naast de helm, waren de hoge Duitse laarzen misschien wel één van de meest herkenbare items van het Duitse leger. Officieren en onderofficieren waren zelf verantwoordelijk voor het aanschaffen van hun uniform en schoeisel. Ze kozen vaak voor het zelf particulier aanschaffen van laarzen van een vaak hogere kwaliteit dan die van de fourier.
